Projects
Achievements, Goals, & Support
PAST
INDONESIA: DFTW partnered with the World Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (WANGO) and Emaar Properties to rebuild Ngelepen in Indonesia, a community devastated by the May 2006 earthquake in Central Java. This village of 80 Domes brought new homes to 71 families, clean water, a school, a masjiid and a medical clinic. More than 370 local laborers were employed in the construction, which was completed in less than six months.
SUDAN: The students of Judge Memorial High School’s Interact Club worked with DFTW and the Southern Sudan Education Project to construct a permanent primary school in YomChiir. Nine classrooms were built using local materials and supplies.
ETHIOPIA: DFTW donated the supplies needed to build several small EcoShells for the Village of Hope. DFTW’s Lead Superintendent, Wes Haws, has donated about a month of his time to the project.
PRESENT
INDONESIA: Houses are continually being built—one by one—with support of individual donors. These Domes are constructed by DFTW’s Indonesian team who were trained during construction of New Ngelepen.
ETHIOPIA: DFTW continues to team up with the Village of Hope in building EcoShells for their community outreach facility.
GOALS
INDONESIA: Funding is being sought to allow DFTW to rebuild more than 125 homes, 2 masjiids and construct 7 clean-water bathroom, shower and laundry facilities along the Bantul plain in Central Java.
DUBAI: Talks continue with DFTW, WANGO and Emaar Properties to build thousands of EcoShells and Monolithic Domes for low to middle income communities
worldwide.
ETHIOPIA: DFTW has created a proposal for a 300 home village with a community center, school, hotel and commercial hub. This development will provide an ongoing income stream to DFTW to continue to build and to help the poorest of the poor in conjunction with Village of Hope.
PERU: DFTW is prepared to provide thousands of homes and apartments to a country which is ready to support the effort with micro-loans to its residents. We will utilize proceeds from housing sales to reinvest into the poorest areas of the country.
HAITI: DFTW will team up with internationally known hip-hop artist, Won-G and Globus Relief to create a new identity for Haiti. We will engage in activities to encourage sustainable growth in all sectors for a healthier, happier and more stable Haiti.
“The challenge of housing the world’s peoples will preoccupy humankind for a long time. Shelter is, after all, is our most basic necessity after nourishment. Innovative methods must be found to finance and organize housing construction and ownership.”
—David Kilgour, former MP in the House of Commons Parliament in Canada
