Domes For The World Completes its First Project
Survivors of the 2006 earthquake in Indonesia officially took possession of their new Monolithic EcoShell Dome homes this month in a ribbon-cutting ceremony that has made headlines around the world. The model community, built by the non-profit Domes For The World Foundation (DFTW), consists of 71 dome homes, six public lavatories, a mosque, clinic, kindergarten and playground. The project was made possible through a joint initiative with the World Association of Non-Government Organizations (WANGO) and Dubai-based Emaar Properties, which provided a $1 million grant.
